17, 1957
q A special meeting
of the Board of Trustees was called for the purpose of talking with Walter Benning
of John-Manville who showed a movie on the new Transite Pressure pipe and
explained it features.
February
1957--No meeting held.
March
14, 1957
q The minutes of
the previous meetings were read and approved.
q The board
accepted and approved Ordinance #82 providing for the extension of Social
Security System to the regular employees
q The clerk was to
write Robert Delaney of Glenwood Springs to find out if he could look into
the suit to establish and determine what the Town’s water rights consisted
off in the Roan Creek Ditch #2.
q The Bond for
Policy Magistrate for Aileen be renewed.
April
3, 1957
q Minutes were read
and approved for the previous meeting.
q Board discussed
the need of replacing the pipe between Tiltons’ and the Drug Store. It was decided that 350’ of 6” pip would
be ordered.
q Alton Payne
motioned that the Town pay wages of $1.25 hr for labor by men over 21, and
$1.00 hr for labor done by young men under 21. It was 2nd and carried.
May
6, 1957—
q Edward Mays
requested a raise of $47.00 a month to his wages making a total of
$197.00. Raise was denied by the
board.
q Wayne Thorp
applied for and was appointed the Water Superintendent and Marshal at a
monthly wage of $175.00.
June
3, 1957
q Regular meeting
held at the office of the Town Clerk.
q George Anderson
move that Wayne Thorp be appointed Town Marshal and Water Superintendent at
a monthly wage of $175.00. Orval Gray 2nd and was carried
q Floyd Long voted
that due to the extra Town water being used to water livestock on property
owned by Carter Elliott, Jr., and occupied by Virgil Rickstrew, a meter
should be installed to measure water used.
The motion was 2nd and carried. The clerk was instructed to inform Mr.
Elliott of this decision by mail.
July
17, 1957
q Special board
meeting held to consider the resignation of Dorothy Smith as Town Clerk.
q Maxine Allen was
hired to fill this vacancy.
q The Town was to
purchase 2 meters and install at Carter Elliott properties, these being the
only two properties outside the Corporate limits which are supplied by the Town
Supply of water.
August 5, 1957
q A motion was made by Geo. Anderson that
anyone taping onto the town water in the future, the charge will be
$125.00, outside the city limits, and a meter will be installed by the
town, seconded by Orval Gray. Motion
carried. The clerk was instructed to
notify the outside property owner by mail about the meters.
q The board motioned and passed that a Post
Office box be rented for the Town’s mail.
August 27, 1957
q A special meeting was held to discuss the
meter situation. In Section 5
Ordinance 49 it was found that the Board has the full authority of the town
water works, and said rules shall be considered a part of the contract with
every person who takes water supplied by the Town of DeBeque from the town
water works.

q No meeting was held.
October
12, 1982
q Several students
from DeBeque High School voiced complaints about the fairness of treatment
of the officers, curfew and laws pertaining to walking the streets. A meeting was scheduled to meet with the
officers.
q Several
complaints were received regarding dog control enforcement. After discussion the Board moved to amend
the Dog Control Ordinance.
November
9, 1982
q It was
recommended that the practice of digging trenches without trench supports
be stopped and that supports be purchased immediately.
q Ordinance #120
was discussed and moved and carried (that section three be deleted).
q Water/Sewer rate
ordinance discussed. Moved to adopt
the following rates; $3.00 /1000 gal, with a 2000 gallon minimum for water,
and $2.00/1000 gal, with a 2000 gallon minimum for sewer.
q Timothy Leasure
had written a letter regarding water taps that he alleges are with his
property. Mayor, Wood Smith was
authorized to reply to Mr. Leasure denying his claim for reimbursement.
December 14. 1982
q After discussion
Ordinance #127 was repealed.
q Henry Castle
requested that the Town establish new water & sewer rates for
commercial or business. A special
meeting was set to discuss the rate changes.
