WILD HORSE TRAIL

Located just eight miles North East of Grand Junction the Wild Horse Area encompasses rugged canyons and plateaus. From 80-120 wild horses roam the area. They are most frequently spotted in sagebrush parks scattered throughout the horse range, traveling in small bands. Some of the best opportunities for catching a glimpse of them are in the Indian Park entrance to the horse area and the north Soda area during summer months and Coal Canyon during winter. The Wild Horse Trail also has a wide assortment of beautiful wild flowers. The White Mallow, Yellow Pears, and Glories spread throughout the desert scape. Don't forget to look for the blue heron and bald eagles which will often be seen flying around the area.
